In a family business, versatility is key. Ryan Gibbs embodies this ethos, seamlessly balancing roles in cattle breeding, pasture management, sustainability initiatives, grape-growing, and guiding the winemaking journey at Aylesbury Estate. With over 25 years of experience in Western Australia’s wine industry, Ryan embodies the essence of Aylesbury’s dedication to exceptional quality.

“My aim is to produce fruit expressive of our unique vineyard sites to craft approachable, full-flavoured wine styles best suited to the fruit we harvest. We’re not trying to be like anyone else – our wines have their own identity.” – Ryan Gibbs

Ryan’s wine journey traces back to his father, Greg Gibbs, who ignited the family’s interest in the wine industry. It began with the planting of the first vines, starting with Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Ryan’s parents still reside on the farm, a testament to the enduring connection to the land.

Ryan seized the opportunity to pursue a full-time farming career, recognising the burgeoning potential of the wine industry amidst its mid 90s boom. His formative years were spent labouring in vineyards across the region during school holidays and university breaks. His formal education in viticulture and winemaking at Curtin University provided a solid foundation.
